PILATES is a system of movement that was developed by German born Joseph Pilates in the 1920's. The use of springs and the exercises allow the body to utilize smaller muscles to find alignment, balance, coordination, tone, stretch, strength and overall uniform development of the body, mind and spirit.
Maya is a certified Pilates instructor through The Pilates Center in Boulder, CO (2006), and Kathy Grant Heritage Training (2014).
Maya began Pilates in her Tweens through her ballet coach, who was training under the reknown Romana Kryzanowska. Pilates presented itself for years during her dance career, and soon after a car accident, she took on system of movement as rehabilitation and continued to train and certify as an instructor. Maya was a finalist in the Pilates Anytime NEXT instructor competition (2015). She has taught Pilates throughout the Denver area, as a warm up for the Radio City Rockettes and most recently taught at Metro State University. Maya has implemented Pilates for Kids in the Denver Public School system just this past fall and continues to feel passionate about this field and the potential it has on people of all levels, types and needs.
